Lecturer in Physical Geography

This lectureship will involve teaching and assessment in the general areas of Environmental Science, plus tutorial support, project supervision, fieldwork and other support activities in the broader subject area of Environmental and Geographical Sciences. There will be self-managed time available for research. The successful applicant will be encouraged to develop research collaborations with current staff.

This position has become available to provide teaching cover for staff on academic secondment.

This position is part time at 18.5 hours per week and is offered on a fixed-term basis for 12 months.

The Person

Candidates should have a sound knowledge of Environmental Science and Environmental Management. Expertise in hydrology and/or water resources management would be advantageous.

The successful applicant will be a lively teacher with an excellent empathy with students and a command of up-to-date approaches in lecturing and communication. He/she will need to have a first degree and a PhD in a relevant subject. Experience of undergraduate teaching is important, as is a willingness to engage in the full range of academic activities.
