The Department of Humanities at Sheffield Hallam University places the experience and development of students at the heart of our teaching, research and administration. We produce world-class research located in disciplinary expertise and knowledge. Our degrees are 'applied', outward-looking, innovative, and informed by our research, as well as by our practice and creative work.

We are currently in the process of reviewing our curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, seeking to further capitalise on our collaborations with the regional Cultural and Creative Industries. Our courses are distinctive and current, they enrich students' experience, provide opportunities to develop confidence and foster a passion for learning.

This is a great opportunity to join a research-excellent team focused on exceptional student experience. You will work with the Head of English and Deputy to help lead the English subject team in one of the largest English subject communities in the country. You will provide professional and academic leadership in a number of areas related to learning, teaching and assessment, curriculum development, research and scholarly activity. Your strategic insight into issues such as quality assurance, management and enhancement will actively contribute to the development and management of the subject area and department.

You will have a strong background in Higher Education teaching and research in any of the broad areas of English studies, such as literature, language, linguistics, creative writing. Developing and implementing effective communication and management strategies and excellent people management skills are essential.
