Reader (Associate Professor) in Social Policy

The Department of Social and Policy Sciences invites applications for a post at the level of Reader (Associate Professor) in social policy at the University of Bath. The Department is a world class centre for policy research and teaching excellence, committed to interdisciplinary, impactful and progressive research.

We are looking to recruit an academic with advanced quantitative research skills and a commitment to providing inspirational departmental and international leadership in the University’s excellent policy research. The successful candidate will have a track record of independent and impactful research of international standing and relevance, evidenced with a substantial record of publications in top rated international journals, a strong track record of medium- to large-grant capture, and successful supervision of research staff and students. Suggested submissions for the next REF, both outputs and impact, should be indicated in the application, along with a brief statement why they represent world-class rigour and significance.  

We welcome applicants with a doctorate in any subfield of social sciences (economics, sociology, social policy, demography) with a research track record and future agenda that enhances the Department’s research strengths into the governance, prioritisation and evaluation of policy responses to major social issues. These include but are not restricted to poverty and welfare, employment and income, social exclusion and inequality, crime, health, migration, comparative social policy development, policy and the life course, and data sciences.
