Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Social Policy

The Department of Social and Policy Sciences invites applications for a post at the level of Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in social policy at the University of Bath. The Department is a world class centre for policy research and teaching excellence, committed to interdisciplinary, impactful and progressive research.

We are looking to recruit a social science academic with very strong quantitative research skills and a commitment to research focused on social policy challenges. The successful candidate will have a developing track record of independent and impactful research of international standing. The appointee will be expected to publish in top rated international journals, sustain a leading research programme, and be active in submitting applications for external funding. The candidate must also have a strong interest in pursuing excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and in supervising graduate students.

We welcome applicants with a doctorate in any subfield of social sciences (economics, sociology, social policy, demography) with a research track record and future agenda that enhances the Department’s research strengths into the governance, prioritisation and evaluation of policy responses to major social issues. These include but are not restricted to poverty and welfare, employment and income, social exclusion and inequality, crime, health, migration, comparative social policy development, policy and the life course, and data sciences.
