Full time starting salary is normally in the range £29,301 to £38,183. With potential progression once in post to £40,523 a year.

Applications are invited to the above role to have specific responsibility for research, and teaching development, as part of TRANSFORM: Teaching Resources for Applying Numeracy and Statistics for Objective Research Methods. The role involves a mixture of pedagogical research, project management, and teaching development, with a focus on teaching of statistics and research methods across a wide range of subjects. The person appointed will be expected to plan and conduct work involving appropriate research methods, including idea-generating workshops, surveys and student focus groups, and will be responsible for writing up their work for publication. They will also help to organise the production of learning resources (e.g. videos, on-line resources) for use in teaching statistics and research methods across a wide range of subject areas.

Candidates must hold a PhD (or equivalent) in the sciences, medicine, education or social sciences with experience of applied statistical analysis of research data and hypothesis testing. Ideally, candidates should have some experience of teaching in a University environment, preferably in statistics or research methods, and familiarity with the production of multi-media and/or on-line learning resources. Experience working on cross-disciplinary projects is desirable, as is experience of collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data from diverse stakeholders (e.g. students, members of the public, companies).

This part-time fixed-term post is available for one day per week from 1 November 2017 for two years. Alternative contract specifications (e.g. two days a week for one year) may be possible, subject to negotiation.
