PhD Funding in Nanophotonics

University of Bristol

An opportunity has arisen to do a PhD in “Design Centering for Nanophotonics” allied to this major EPSRC project (www.manuGaN.org).

This is a four university consortium made up of the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Sheffield, and Strathclyde, who are developing a range of nanoscale manufacturing processes and modelling tools for next generation semiconductor applications in sensors and advanced lighting.

This project will involve using state-of-the-art electromagnetic modelling tools to develop methodologies for yield optimisation in advanced Gallium Nitride Photonic Integrated Circuits.

There are also opportunities to work in our state-of-the-art cleanroom facility using Electron Beam Lithography and semiconductor etching tools.

The funding is available for an immediate start, you will be required to have a minimum of a 2.1 Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or associated disciplines.
