Outdoor Education Instructor

Location: The Raymond Priestley Centre, Coniston, Cumbria

The Raymond Priestley Centre is located on the western shore of Coniston Water. It provides a range of outdoor education courses for students from the University of Birmingham, from under graduate and postgraduate team skills programmes, to recreational courses and outdoor adventurous activity modules for Sport/Physical Education degree courses.

The post holder will provide outstanding learning experiences through residential outdoor education; consistently delivering inspirational, safe and exciting opportunities for personal development, reflection and transfer of learning.

To approach each course with the attitude and motivation that all user groups feel valued and important and wherever possible seek to exceed customer expectations.

To positively contribute to the team dynamic of the Centre.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To provide high quality teaching on all the Centre’s courses.
  2. To operate competently and with integrity as an independent instructor. Able to conduct dynamic risk assessment throughout the activity session and use your own initiative to react accordingly and in a timely manner to events, enabling the safe organisation and management of group work
