Head of Administration and Finance

Grade 10: £53,691 - £62,219 with a discretionary range to £67,972 p.a.

The Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences is looking to recruit a new Head of Administration and Finance. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior administrator to play a key role in the operational leadership, management and continued development of our successful, growing department.

This role demands the ability to handle and prioritise a complex and changing portfolio and an understanding of the strategic imperatives of the department, to ensure the effective ongoing operation and business development. You will have oversight of the day-to-day non-academic management and administration ensuring that it facilitates the academic strategy. The role encompasses finance, estates, HR, teaching administration, health and safety and communications. 

The successful applicant needs to have high personal integrity and is required to take a high level of personal responsibility for both their own work and that of the staff under their control. You must have sound judgement under pressure, be able to think laterally and creatively and have the intellectual capacity and strength of character to take and implement important, complex and difficult decisions. 

You will have an accountancy, MBA or similar postgraduate qualification and extensive managerial experience at senior level, with a knowledge of human resource management and advanced numeracy skills. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, with a proven ability to lead, to manage change and build effective working relationships with a wide-range of colleagues. You will also be an exceptional problem-solver.

Where a suitably qualified candidate is not identified at Grade 10, consideration will be given to appointing at Grade 9 (£46,336 - £53,691 p.a.), for a strong candidate who does not meet all the criteria for Grade 10.
