We seek to appoint one individual as a British Heart Foundation Postdoctoral Researcher to investigate the role of nitrite in cardioprotection. The position is based in the research group of Dr Melanie Madhani in the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences. The position is ideally suited for an individual who already has experience in myocardial ischaemia reperfusion injury and the Langendorff model. The successful candidate should have knowledge and experience in assessing protective mechanisms against myocardial ischaemia reperfusion injury, oxidative stress, and nitrite/nitric oxide signalling pathway. He/she must have excellent academic qualifications, strong initiative, good teamwork skills, and who is interested in academic research. Previous experience of working as part of a collaborative team is required. There are a number of on-going externally-funded projects within the research group. The Group has regular journal clubs and Lab meetings.

Full time starting salary is normally in the range £29,301 to £38,183. With potential progression once in post to £40,523 a year.
