Joining the OU at a time of significant change the role requires an exceptional candidate who will have overall responsibility for providing leadership and management in all aspects of the University’s estate in line with its corporate strategy, ‘Student First: strategy for growth’.

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, you will have a key role in leading the Transformation Programme and in reorganising the University’s assets and physical environment ensuring all space and assets are deployed efficiently and cost effectively to the benefit of both the University and its students.

The Estates Director is an essential part of the University’s ambitious plans and will not only drive the effective management of the OU’s current property estate but will also be focused on the successful implementation of the University’s Transformation Programme and delivery of future development activity to support the long term commercial development. You will lead the delivery of the transformation programme for the property portfolio, driving value, providing innovative solutions and collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders, new and existing, to ensure an integrated approach to maximising the potential of the University’s assets.

Suitable applicants will have significant experience at a senior level in managing an extensive property portfolio with responsibility for financial performance, ideally in a commercial environment. You will also have a proven track record of delivering successful regeneration, working with new business partners to deliver financial benefits to the University whilst extending its working relationships with third party businesses and innovators. You need to be a skilled negotiator, innovative thinker, confident in influencing and collaborating at senior levels and will be commercially astute and customer focused.
