Senior Lecturer in Food Manufacturing (Quality and Technical Management)

University of Lincoln - College of Science – National Centre for Food Manufacturing

We require a Senior Lecturer in Food Manufacturing (Quality Assurance and Technical Management) to join our dynamic team. You will have significant practical experience of managing quality or technical functions in the food manufacturing sector. Whilst experience of teaching is highly desirable, it is not essential as the role would very much suit a qualified food technologist, with extensive practical experience and a research interest, who is looking for a change of career and who will value the opportunity to inspire the next generation of Quality Assurance and Technical Managers and help food businesses to advance their technical capability.

A satellite campus of the University of Lincoln, The National Centre for Food Manufacturing is a major resource for the UK’s food industry with over 250 major companies accessing courses, technical services and research.  Our clients include the major national and global food manufacturing businesses and leading supermarkets and we collaborate with many international partners and universities. The NCFM has outstanding sector-focused facilities, including a state-of-the-art food factory demonstrating cutting edge food automation.

We are looking for a key individual to undertake teaching and help drive forward our applied research agenda. All of NCFM’s students are employed in the food industry and study on a part-time basis, with distance learning supported by block release the platform for delivery. The post holder will deliver teaching and learning to students studying on NCFM‘s Higher Education provision (Higher and Degree Apprenticeships, Degrees and postgraduate provision) and on occasions to Apprenticeships and students on short courses. The post holder will be committed to helping students learn and to the continued improvement in teaching practice and the student experience. With our provision underpinned by distance learning, the post holder will need to be IT savvy and open to experimentation in digital learning.

Alongside a key teaching remit, the post holder will focus on the advancement of NCFM’s applied research and innovation agenda, through applied industrial partnered research and trials with businesses.

As teaching is a key focus, the post is offered on a Teaching and Professional Practice contract. Whilst research is an important element of the role, the post is not suitable for individuals in pursuit of research focused career and REF standing.

Agri-food technology is central to the University of Lincoln's strategy and this post offers potential candidates a unique opportunity for career development in an environment that is both academically stimulating and business engaged.
