Senior Lecturer in Creative Advertising (23 months FTC)

The School of Arts & Creative Industries are seeking to appoint a dynamic, highly motivated, and well connected applicant to the role of Senior Lecturer in Creative Advertising within the Department of Art & Design. Our Creative Advertising course has an outstanding reputation and our multi award-winning students are recognised for their continued success upon graduation.

This is a distinctive programme of study introducing students to a career in creative advertising and associated areas, such as social media, content, experiential, innovation and broadcast. Graduates from the course work in a number of high profile advertising agencies, including adam&eveDDB, Weiden & Kennedy, Droga5, Mother, Saatchi & Saatchi, BBH, Lucky Generals, Creature, WCRS, Valenstein & Fatt, 180, 4Creative, BBC and Don’t Panic.

This highly creative and challenging subject explores concept-driven solutions in a variety of media: poster, press, television, radio, online/interactive media, ambient, guerrilla and content. With an emphasis on idea generation, problem solving, writing and teamwork, the creative and problem solving aspects of the programme are enhanced by professional practice and contextual studies.

The successful candidate will be able to evidence experience as a creative, preferably as a Copywriter, and have a track record of inspirational teaching at degree level. Applicants should have experience of an agency environment and should be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of Art Direction and/or Copywriting, including skills in ideation, creative writing and visualization techniques as well as be fully conversant with relevant software and media. Furthermore, applicants should be able to apply their knowledge of contemporary industry practice to teaching and developing the curriculum.

As Senior Lecturer, the appointee will be responsible for teaching both theory and practice, and contribute to the ongoing development of the Creative Advertising programme, including ensuring quality and standards are maintained. The appointee will also be responsible for the continued successful student recruitment to the programme of study and ensuring an excellent student experience.

In addition to teaching, they will also be expected to contribute to the research and enterprise strategy in the wider School and Faculty, as well as engaging with our social media and marketing strategies for raising the profile and status of the course.
