Welfare Officer

University of Nottingham - QMC and Sutton Bonington Service Centre

Location: Sutton Bonington

Salary: £22,494 to £26,829 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The University has transformed the delivery of student administration and support with four new teams working from our newly refurbished Service Centres and dedicated spaces across our UK campuses. Part of this reorganisation was the creation of a network of Welfare Managers and Officers across the new Student Services teams. A vacancy has arisen within our team for a Welfare Officer to join the team largely supporting the Vet School and School of BioSciences.

The Welfare Officer is responsible for providing an efficient, effective and informed pastoral support service to students and being a source of information for academic staff on pastoral support.

The roleholder will be part of the wider welfare network across the campuses, acting as a central dissemination point for all Faculty/School student welfare issues, with expertise and knowledge of good practice to inform Faculty/School policy. The roleholder will work with professional/specialist University support services, escalating specific issues and referring students to such services as needed.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of extensive relevant work experience, for example in a student support role. Further role details can be found on the Role Profile form. We welcome applications from people keen to join the Student Services welfare team at this exciting time, who are committed to delivering a high quality, professional service to our students and academics, and who have a flexible attitude to work.

This role will be largely based at our Sutton Bonington campus; however applicants should be prepared to be flexible about their location and open to working across our other sites as business needs dictate. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Tracey George, tel: 0115 7486659 or email TRACEY.GEORGE@NOTTINGHAM.AC.UK. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.

The University of Nottingham is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
