Within Student Services, our Enabling Services department provides a wide variety of support for students who have long-term health conditions, mental health problems or specific learning difficulties (e.g. dyslexia), as well as running the Wessex Needs Assessment Centre.

Two opportunities have arisen to join the Supervisor team in the Customer Service function, which supports the work of the whole department. Alongside your colleagues, you will be responsible for supervising all aspects of customer services in our busy centre. To ensure the smooth running of our services you will need to be an excellent communicator, strong team player and able to motivate and supervise a Customer Service team. We are looking for individuals who are flexible, proactive and can take the initiative to ensure that the allocation and prioritisation of work meets the needs of the service and the students. This will include ensuring staff are clear about the daily changing work priorities and service expectations. 

These roles involves a great deal of interaction with colleagues, as well as our students and the successful candidates must have:

  • excellent communication skills
  • significant experience of customer service
  • ability to positively influence teamwork
  • the ability to be able to work alone and within a team
  • excellent time and project management skills
  • good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and the ability to work with a variety of systems
  • experience of supporting and leading on process change and improvement projects, working with a range of stakeholders

A part of this role will be to support the department’s Drop-in Service, and you would also be expected to work as part of a team of Drop-in Advisors signposting students to appropriate people or depts./organisations both internal and external to the University.

You will be qualified to at least A Level/HNC/NVQ3 with proven work experience, or have sufficient skill/work level equivalent.

The salary for this post starts at £24,285 through to £28,936 with annual increments.Please note that we recruit at the bottom of the scale. Further benefits include the opportunity to join the University’s pension scheme, 20 days annual leave and access to a number of University employer discount schemes. 

Please note, the service operates between 08:00 and 18:00 hours Monday-Friday, and you would be expected to work flexibly to meet the service needs. At peak times there will be a requirement for some weekend working.
