Project and Grant Writing Officer

A project and grant writing officer position is available from 1st January 2018.  The successful applicant will support a newly funded EU grant on ‘Targeting Platelet Adhesion Receptors in Thrombosis (TAPAS)’ in the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, College of Medical and Dental Sciences, University of Birmingham, and the writing of grant applications for the Centre of Membrane Proteins and Receptors (COMPARE) It is expected that they will divide their time between the two roles. 

We seek to appoint a motivated individual for up to four years on a collaborative grant funded by the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme of the European Union. The post holder will work on a project involving overall project co-ordination, financial, project management and administration associated with these projects (combined €3.88m). The person appointed will provide an efficient operational base for the complex project portfolio and will have an experienced quantitative background; this will be complemented by strong and persuasive communication skills to enable you to work effectively.

This position will also support the writing of large strategic research grants, research papers and complex documents (e.g. tender bids for major items of equipment) from the Centre of Membrane Proteins and Receptors (COMPARE) which is a Signature Research Institute between the Universities of Birmingham and Nottingham; the successful applicant will also facilitate the team in the delivery of externally funded projects through the preparation of annual reports etc. 

The successful applicant will be part of multi- and inter-disciplinary research groups and will liaise with users of the research in government, international organisations and business.

The position is available for four years. We also encourage applicants who wish to apply for a job share; the Project Officer for TAPAS is 0.5FTE and the Grant Writing Officer for COMPARE is 0.5FTE. 

Full time starting salary is normally in the range £29,799 to £38,832. With potential progression once in post to £41,212 a year.
