The Commercial Services Directorate is seeking to appoint an experienced professional to the position of Head of Residences at Brunel University London. This person needs to be ambitious, enthusiastic with impeccable standards and have the ability to ensure that Brunel University London has a first class Residences Department and reputation.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Commercial Services, this role will provide strategic and financial leadership for all the services delivered within the University’s residential offerings and will work in partnership with the Union of Brunel Students, Residences, Conferencing and other Departments to ensure excellent customer service and the provision of best in class accommodation and services to students, staff and visitors. The post holder will be responsible for maximising income and ensuring 100% occupancy from our 4532 standard, en-suite and studio flats and looking at new and innovative ways of packaging products and services. The post holder will be able to think strategically and translate the University’s vision and direction into a services vision and direction mobilising the team to turn strategy into action.

The individual will be required to have strong partnerships and networks within both the HE Residential Sector and have the ability to work with partners and governing bodies to influence and maximise potential from Brunel’s substantial housing stock. The post holder will be experienced in writing business plans and developing a culture where customer satisfaction is a prime performance target.

The successful candidate must have a high level of inter personal skills, a can-do attitude and an excellent level of customer service. It is vital that the individual has a high financial acumen and can completely manage budget targets and growth in all aspects of the Department.

The ability to drive and motivate a team of likeminded individuals and understand the need for clear strategic direction is essential as is the ability to set and work to clear objectives, KPI’s and SLA’s and to ensure that meaningful actions are measured and acted upon. The applicant will ideally have a proven track record of managing residential services within an HE environment and an understanding of the challenges faced.

To be considered for this post, you must have extensive experience of working at a senior level within a fast-paced, multi-sited environment and have experience of effectively managing and providing leadership to staff.
