Research Associate in Healthcare Data Analytics (Knowledge Transfer Partnership)

Are you an enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher with a research track record in data analytics and machine learning? Do you have a strong interest in applying novel data analytics techniques in real-world healthcare problems?

In this role you will work closely with the development team of Shearwater Systems, and interact with healthcare professionals to identify data analytics requirements. As part of the academic team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a number of PhD students and researchers working in the area of healthcare data analytics in the School of Engineering and Digital Arts at the University of Kent.

Working primarily at Shearwater Systems premises in Canterbury, you will visit the University on a weekly basis to work within the Intelligent Interactions research group.

This role is offered as part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnerships scheme on a full time basis for a fixed term period for 28 months.

As Research Associate you will:

  • develop a novel framework for the integration and analysis of Internet of Things (IoT) datasets for healthcare;
  • develop prototype data analytics solutions for extracting high-level knowledge for the long-term monitoring of health conditions;
  • contribute in writing papers summarising research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals;
  • conduct theoretical and empirical research, as required by the project.

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • a PhD (already obtained or shortly to be awarded) or equivalent in Computer Science or Electronic Engineering or related discipline;
  • experience in large-scale data analytics (statistical data analysis, machine learning etc.);
  • a good track record of publications in scientific journals and conference proceedings;
  • a willingness to present results at international conferences and participate in industrial exhibitions.

Shearwater Systems is a mobile first, health technology company which has developed Rapport – a cloud based, software as a service solution. Rapport enables companies to mobilise and create interaoperative applications for the capture and visualisation of information by both care teams and patients (consumers). The School of Engineering & Digital Arts was founded in 1966 as the Electronics Laboratory. This combination of digital arts with engineering and technology in one school is a unique characteristic of the School.
