Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Game Design

We have an exciting opportunity to join our vibrant UEL Games Team to teach Computer Game Design and Development at undergraduate level. Our BA Computer Games Design: Story Development and BSc Computer Game Development degrees predominantly focus on developing interesting gameplay and making games in addition to the programming, graphical, project management, and story aspects of games design. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of the game design process: conceptualizing, planning, designing, developing gameplay, and developing games to publication. They should also have a good understanding of Narrative Design.

Knowledge and Experience of the following areas are also of benefit:

  • Designing / developing games for commercial publication.
  • Project management methodologies and processes used in game production.
  • Developing games using Unity3D and programming in C#.
  • Developing 2D & 3D game assets.
  • Developing Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality games.

You will be an excellent team player with a positive attitude, a flexible approach, and the ability to work independently. You will be enthusiastic about learning and committed to helping our students develop a foundation of skills and knowledge that increases their employability and empowers them to build successful careers. You will also add to our research and/or consultancy profile, contribute to course management, and coordinate our games industry liaison committee.

Applicants should have significant games industry experience as a game designer with published titles to your credit or have a PhD (or be 6 months away from completion) with previous HE teaching experience of Gameplay Design.
