Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education: Primary/Early Years

The University of the West of England, Department for Education and Childhood offers postgraduate programmes in Early Years Education, Primary Education and Secondary Education and an undergraduate Primary Education programme. These are thriving courses which we run in close partnership with schools and educational settings to train outstanding, transformational teachers.

This post in the Primary/Early Years team is a permanent, full-time role where you will work with the Associate Head of Department for Initial Teacher Education and the ITE teams to teach on, and support continuing development of our Primary and Early Years programmes. We are looking for a colleague who shares our enthusiasm for learning and teaching and who is committed to developing and supporting excellence in the teaching profession.

You will have experience in Primary/Early Years teaching, a relevant postgraduate qualification and experience of supporting trainee teachers as well as being able to employ innovative teaching approaches, including digital learning, as part of your role. In addition you will be able to enthuse and motivate students, be  flexible in your approach, have excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills, be highly organised, able to manage a varied and challenging workload and take a collaborative approach to your work. 

We would particularly welcome applications from those able to contribute one or more of the following:

  • Specialism in Maths and/or Science
  • Specialism in EY
  • Experience of management
