English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Lecturer

Hebei University (HBU) and The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) are looking to recruit the above lecturers to support the joint school ‘HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communications & Creative Industries’ based at Hebei University, Hebei Province, P.R China.

Hebei University (HBU) is located in Baoding, approximately 40 minutes by the new fast train, from Beijing. The city is becoming a commuter base for Beijing and is in a Province with a total population of over 77 million people.

The joint non-independent Status School received approval from the Chinese Ministry of Education and presents an exciting opportunity for EAP lecturers to be involved in the development of the joint school. Successful candidates will deliver academic English and content specific English support modules on the Year 0 part of the programme in 2017/18.

The first cohort of students enrolled in September 2014, studying in a building specifically allocated for the new School on HBU’s new campus. The school will accommodate up to 800 students, when at full capacity, and has in the region of 700 currently enrolled. Academic programmes originate from UCLan’s School of Art, Design and Fashion and School of Journalism, Media and Performance and students can complete the full degree in China or split it between China and UCLan’s Preston Campus.

The programmes offered are:

BA (Hons) Advertising

BA (Hons) Graphic Design

BA (Hons) Interior Design

BA (Hons) Animation

BA (Hons) Media Production and Technology

BA (Hons) Media and Film and Production

Applicants will, ideally, have experience in teaching English in an H.E environment and experience of teaching Chinese students and should be CELTA/DELTA qualified (or equivalent) and in possession of an MA. This post is based in Hebei. Successful candidates will be employed by the joint school HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communications and Creative Industries.

In addition to basic £21,000 salary, the attractive benefits package includes free accommodation, 2 return flights to the UK per academic year, contribution towards health insurance (£200) and Visa as well as an additional £1,500 bonus at the end of the academic year following a full years’ service.
