Velindre Professor of Nursing

The Velindre Professor of Nursing is an exciting new position that will focus attention on a cancer care research agenda in nursing and allied health care.

The School of Healthcare Sciences and Velindre NHS Trust have embarked on an exciting collaboration to build research capacity through a commitment to applied research to transform cancer services in South East Wales.

The post-holder will contribute to the planning and modeling of future services providing an evidence base to inform development plans, and by providing leadership and support for research activities in the School, and Trust.

This role is a senior position in the School of Healthcare Sciences, and the Trust, reporting directly to the Head of School and Executive Director of Nursing & Service Improvement respectively.

The post holder will work 50% of the time at both Cardiff University and Velindre NHS Trust, although the substantive position will be full-time with Cardiff University for 3 years in the first instance and an honorary contract will be awarded from the Trust.

Applications are invited from candidates with a clinical background and a strong and dynamic research profile in the area of Cancer care or Health Services Research which has direct relevance to the field of Cancer care. We are seeking an outstanding, experienced clinical research scholar and the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate leadership and innovation at Professorial level.

The appointed person will be an innovative academic, committed to delivering and promoting the highest quality research  in clinical nursing practice and allied healthcare.

All candidates must have current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council and possess a PhD.

This is a full time position of 35 hours per week (1 FTE), fixed term for 3 years

Salary:  A point on the Professorial Scale that will be commensurate with the experience and achievements of the successful applicant.
