Development Manager

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and experienced individual to join our Development Team as Development Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional with a proven track record in fundraising to join a triple-accredited world-renowned Business School within a top class University. Following a recent restructure, the Team is seeking to make a step-change and grow its fundraising activities, in line with the Business School’s ambitions and objectives.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a portfolio of corporates and Henley Business School alumni with a view to make a significant contribution to the School’s fundraising targets by increasing the number of supporters as well as the level of support of existing donors.
  • Build strong relationship with corporate prospects and current partners to significantly increase the support from this income stream.
  • Work alongside the Head of Fundraising on specific projects to identify prospects, cultivate relationships and secure gifts from corporate contacts as well as individuals.
  • Build a strong relationship with both the Head of Communications and the Product Design Manager in order to maximise donors and prospects support.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with academics and other Business School colleagues to identify funding opportunities as well as to support them in building relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Work with colleagues across Henley Business School and the University of Reading to identify new prospects, attending events and meetings where appropriate.
  • Ensure all information concerning donors and prospective donors is accurately maintained on the database (The Raiser’s Edge) as well as implementing appropriate follow-up mechanisms for donors – such as invoicing of gifts and sponsorships where required.
  • Maintain strong relationships with all existing Henley donors through appropriate stewardship, including communications and events.
  • Support the Alumni Relations activities where required, including helping to plan key prospect and stewardship events, as well as hosting donors and prospects and representing Henley Business School at events.
  • Working across the Business School and University with other Development and Alumni Relations professionals, where appropriate.
  • Other duties, as defined by the Head of Fundraising.
