Lecturer in Creative Writing – Part Time 17.5 hours per week

Our award-winning School of Arts & Creative Industries (SACI) is looking for a Lecturer in Creative Writing to join the team at the Merchiston campus part-time (17.5 hours per week).

SACI hosts a range of undergraduate and post-graduate programmes, and plays an active part in the creative industries across Scotland. We are widely recognised for our expertise and excellence in creative practice. That work is enhanced by extensive international collaboration providing both staff and students with the opportunity to work and study worldwide.

Our ambition is to be in the top ten for creative industries among UK HEIs. We are looking for a dynamic, pioneering academic to work collaboratively to enhance our inspiring learning environment and enable our students to shine.

The Role

You will be working within the small, dedicated MA Creative Writing team to design and deliver high quality, student-centred teaching and learning that reflects our focus on career development for emerging genre writers. You will be responsible for developing our existing teaching and research specialisms to further enhance student experience and the University’s reputation from a global perspective.

You will be ambitious and enthusiastic about cross-disciplinary working and committed to collaborating across the University. You will be required to work independently, and as part of a team supporting others.

What Are We Looking For

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • A professional publication record in a relevant commercial genre.
  • Relevant teaching experience and evidence of a professional academic and research profile alongside a commitment to sustained continuous professional development.
  • A scholarly interest in developing innovative narrative practice.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Benefits We Offer

Salary: Grade 6 £38,833 - £47,722 pro rata, per annum
