Strategic Development Officer

Swansea University - Law and Criminology

Swansea University is undergoing a period of significant development and expansion. The University doubled the size of its estate with the opening of its new Bay Campus in 2015 and is a UK top 30, research-intensive institution, ranking 26th in REF2014. The College of Law and Criminology is undergoing an equally exciting period of development under its Head, Professor Elwen Evans QC, will be renamed the Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law in October 2017, and plans to move to a new, sector-leading Law School by 2020.

The College is achieving significant and sustained growth, and has an ambitious development plan that seeks to establish Swansea as a leading centre for legal education and research, and is seeking to appoint a Strategic Development Officer to support the implementation of the College’s plans; to identify and develop opportunities for research funding, and to help grow the College’s engagement with external partners.

The successful candidate will identify, scope and support a portfolio of externally funded grant applications, and to strengthen and manage the University’s external collaborations with industry and the public sector, building strategic partnerships to drive research development. Similarly, they will be engaged in developing external partnerships and working with businesses, sponsors and external grant funding bodies to create and enable the successful delivery of the College’s strategic plan.

Informal enquiries can be directed to Chris Marshall,, or Professor Elwen Evans QC, Head of College
