About us:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager developing their career to join the Medical Research Council (MRC) - a publicly-funded organisation dedicated to improving human health. We support research across the entire spectrum of medical sciences, in universities and hospitals, in our own units, centres and institutes in the UK, and in our units in Africa.

About the role:

You will contribute to world class health research infrastructures by developing funding for new research equipment and facilities and support MRC infrastructure projects and benefits realisation.

You will run the MRC Infrastructure Planning Group and be responsible for the MRC Infrastructure Roadmap.

Developing projects to achieve the roadmap is a major part of the role, working with researchers, UK Government and our partners to secure funding for health research infrastructure.

You will assist the Director of Major Projects in running new infrastructure projects and operate infrastructure funding schemes.

The role will involve interaction across MRC Head Office and UK Research & Innovation, UK Government, charity partners, and universities.

About you:

You will have a degree or equivalent work experience. Ideally your degree is in a science subject and you have a project management qualification.

You need to have an understanding of health research and its funding.

Previous experience in project management, with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy workload is essential.

You will be a great communicator able to work with people at all levels, willing to work across a range of tasks, motivate people, negotiate and build support.

We are looking for someone who is numerate and accurate and has experience of presentations and board papers as well as financial analysis and business cases.
