You will be directly responsible for the technical work within Work Package (WP) 2 of GEMS “Software implementation for massively parallel computations”, reporting to the WP2 lead, Dr Margetts, and the project lead, Prof Jivkov. While being guided by Dr Margetts, who is an expert in parallelisation of FEA software, you will work closely with the existing researcher on WP1 “Theoretical and mathematical basis”, Dr Kosmas, to understand and implement the requirements from theoretical perspective, and the future researcher on WP3 “Demonstration and validation” to understand and implement the requirements from engineering user perspective.

You will be expected to apply your expertise in parallel software development with creativity and imagination in order to deliver optimal and excellently documented computational implementation of the new technology, ready for use by engineering and materials researchers. You will join the Mechanics and Physics of Solids Research Team, comprising four academics and variable number of PDRAs and PhD students, and will be expected to collaborate and support team members within your area of expertise if required.
