Finance Business Partner (Research Assurance)

The Finance Business partner - Research & Financial Assurance will undertake the financial policy development, costing, funding terms compliance, management information reporting and systems and process development (in conjunction with the Research and Enterprise Development team) in relation to the University’s research activity. 

The post holder will play a critical role in ensuring that the University properly costs its research activity.  The University undertakes c£150m of research activity per annum.  Failure to accurately cost and manage research application bids could result in significant financial loss to the institution.

Ensuring compliance in relation to research funding is critical.  Many grants are subject to audit and financial clawback.  With £150m of research funding a year and the possibility of claw backs for up to 6 years following the completion of a research grant contract the financial risk from non-compliance with grant awarding body terms is significant.  The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that appropriate procedures and systems are in place to ensure compliance with grant funding terms.  They will also be responsible for managing the programme of grant audits.
