Associate Dean (Research and Enterprise)

About the opportunity:

The Associate Dean will be the research champion for the Faculty of Environment and Technology, leading on our approach to the REF with support from our departmental research centres.

We have a very active research community both internally and externally within the vibrant local economy - including organisations such as the Bristol Robotics Laboratory, British Aerospace, Airbus, Rolls Royce as well as the local Science Parks.

The Associate Dean will work as a senior member of the Faculty Executive, within a matrix management team of four Associate Deans (Quality, Teaching and Learning; Research and Innovation; Planning and Resources; Partnerships); the Faculty Business Manager; and the four Heads of Department to ensure that the key aims and objectives of the University’s Strategy 2020 are embedded and realised within the Faculty in a coherent and consistent way.

About you:

You will have a strong research background in the engineering and technology field and it is likely that you will be currently working as a Professor, with connections to industry and evidence of attracting grants for research work.

You could also be working in industry within research and development, partnering with engineering and technology organisations.

Above all, you will have academic research credibility.
