City’s Property & Facilities Department wish to employ an Assistant Project Manager to join the Projects team and assist with the delivery of the Estates Strategy. The position will report into a senior member of the team, under the overall responsibility of the Head of Projects, who reports into the Director, Property & Facilities. The team consists of 6 full time posts, plus a dedicated administration assistant. Other teams within the department include Operations & Maintenance, Energy & Environment, Timetabling, and Facilities.

Responsibilities
The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of objectives and outputs for specific capital projects which contribute to City’s Vision and Estates Strategy. They will be expected to take ownership and provide resolution to any issues which impact planned outcomes. This will require experience and the ability to evaluate situations, decisions and issues considering short, medium and longer term implications. The post holder will have management responsibility for more than one scheme as well as contributing to capital projects under the direct management responsibility of others. They will also have responsibility for all project decants.

Person Specification

  • Knowledge and understanding of the application of health & safety management principles.
  • Excellent knowledge of how to organize, store and present information efficiently. Above average organisational skills and ability to assess situations well.
  • Strong IT skills and experience in using IT systems, including complex spreadsheets with formulas, word processing packages, project management applications and databases (Microsoft Office applications).
  • Previous project/construction management experience is desirable.
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to coordinate numerous tasks, work to strict deadlines and an ability to work quickly.
  • Excellent written communication skills. Demonstrable experience of producing reports, manipulating and analysing data.
  • A project/construction management qualification is desirable.
  • Experience of working in HE or similar is desirable.
