Research Funding Assurance Manager

Imperial College London - Research Office

South Kensington Campus

Applications are invited for the full-time post of Research Funding Assurance Manager within the Research Office.

Overview: The central Research Office formulates, and is the College custodian of, research funding policies which underpin the management of externally funded research within a devolved structure. It champions professional standards, best practice and consistency in research administration across the College to ensure that institutional governance responsibilities and obligations are met, and that research funding is optimised.

Role: The Research Funding Assurance Manager is a key role within the Operational Support team. Directly reporting to the Head of Research Support Services, the post-holder will be responsible for managing the Research Office’s internal assurance activities to identify and mitigate organisational risk, and will support the audit coordination process and related activities to enhance the College’s assurance capability, particularly ahead of institutional audits.

Person: The candidate should have extensive operational experience and knowledge of research funding administrative procedures and practice in a Higher Education Institution or similar environment, and have a detailed understanding of key external funders’ research management policies and requirements, particularly those relating to financial policies, regulations, assurance and audit.

Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills are needed, aligned with the ability to communicate effectively and clearly and interact with a wide range of staff across the College. The presence and confidence to be able to achieve credibility for the organisation when liaising with auditors and external funders is also essential, as is the ability to balance need, risk and pragmatism when considering and developing solutions.

Imperial College is located at several campuses across London. Although the post holder will be based at South Kensington, they will be expected to travel to all campuses as and when required.

Closing date for applications: Sunday 29th October 2017 (midnight BST)

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 8th November.
