Purpose and Main Duties
The Research Grants and Contracts Office is part of the Finance Department and provides administrative, financial and support services related to externally funded research grants and contracts and consultancy activities.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Research Accounts Assistant to join our busy team. Working to the Research Accounts Officer, the post holder is responsible for the financial accounting and reporting of a portfolio of research grants and contracts and consultancy contracts. This includes the preparation and submission of claims, financial statements and invoicing, and dealing with accounting enquiries from funding bodies, award holders and school-based administrators.

Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will have knowledge and understanding of finance systems and budgetary control, experience of project accounting and reporting, excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail, together with the ability to explain financial concepts and financial reports to non-experts.

Please note: candidates need to demonstrate competence or significant potential in all areas.

In addition it is desirable that candidates have knowledge of research funding bodies and their procedures.

Salary: Grade 6 of the College's London Pay Scale which is £32,586 rising to £37,169 per annum.

This post is full time, 35 hours per week (1.0 FTE) and open-ended. The salary quoted above is on the College's London Pay Scale and includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the Greater London area. The initial salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant. The appointment is subject to a probationary period of 6 months.
