Research Associate/Fellow - 3D Ink-jetting of Structural and Functional Materials

University of Nottingham - Engineering

Location: University Park

Salary: £26,495 to £38,833 per annum, depending on skills and experience (minimum £29799 with relevant PhD). Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

This role will coordinate and facilitate research in the area of three-dimensional ink-jet printing, with a specialisation in multi-material co-deposition of structural and functional materials. The post will focus on the deposition and required processing characteristics for novel Additive Manufacturing materials including the coalescence and functionalisation of organic, inorganic and novel 2D materials such as graphene and chalcogenides as well as pharmaceutical materials. Duties will include the characterisation of deposition capabilities and subsequent quality of deposition. The post-holder will be required to understand and successfully implement formulation requirements of inkjet based materials and be able to modify base materials produced from complimentary Research Challenges involved in the Programme Grant. Specifically for this post, the contemporaneous deposition of these materials is of paramount importance in order to understand the interfacial aspects necessary for the successful demonstration of a diverse range of applications including pharmaceutical and electronic devices.

To undertake this work we seek applications from those with experimental and/or fabrication expertise in one or more of the following areas: inkjet printing, Additive Manufacturing, the physics, chemistry, or engineering applications of 3D printing.

Please direct informal enquiries to Prof Chris Tuck (christopher.tuck@nottingham.ac.uk) or Prof Ricky Wildman (ricky.wildman@nottingham.ac.uk). Please note that applications sent directly to these email addresses will not be accepted.
