Project Detail:
Reducing and mitigating carbon emissions, a major factor for global warming and climate change, is increasingly important for both industry and government. Furthermore, supply chain risks (either natural or human-made with detrimental environmental impact) are increasingly creating complications in the supply chain that as yet are not well understood. Resilience allows firms to effectively manage the supply chain risks and continue to deliver their products and services to the customer. The proposed research provides a step change in supply chain analytics research and integrates two previously isolated and interdisciplinary areas of research, namely Green Supply Chain and Resilience. The proposed collaborative research will exploit supply chain data and information, and develop and apply novel analytical approaches to empower supply chain decision-making. The proposed PhD project, which is co-funded by UKIERI’s UK-India (Loughborough- IIT Delhi) collaborative project, will help companies to monitor, manage, and optimise the carbon footprint and risks of their supply chains. It is expected that the PhD researcher will collaborate with the Carbon Trust, UK and Safexpress Group, India to demonstrate the practical application for the research impact.
