Grade 10a: £46,336 - £62,219 p.a. plus college housing allowances

The University is seeking to appoint full-time Associate Professors of Economics for the academic year 2018/19. The University of Oxford uses the grade of Associate Professor for most of its senior academic appointments. This grade is roughly equivalent to Associate Professor in the USA. Associate Professors are eligible for consideration through regular recognition of distinction exercises for award of the title of full Professor.

The posts are associated with Tutorial Fellowships at Hertford and St John’s. Duties will include undertaking independent research and securing funding to support the Department’s research activities, together with teaching and supervision responsibilities for the Department of Economics and the colleges.

Applications are invited from candidates with a completed doctorate in Economics and postdoctoral experience in an academic position from any field of economics, however Hertford College particularly welcomes applications from those with specialisms in macroeconomics or applied micro/econometrics. St John’s College would welcome applications from those who can teach quantitative economics. Additionally, applicants should have a proven high standard of research and the ability to enthuse and inspire students at both undergraduate and graduate level through tutorials, classes, lectures, and supervision.

The appointments are for 5 years in the first instance, with reappointment to retirement upon completion of a successful review.

Salary ranges between £46,336 and £62,219 p.a. plus additional benefits which vary between colleges, including housing allowances ranging between £9,437 and £13,500 p.a. or in some instances include residential living accommodation provided by the College free of charge - please refer to the college specific Further Particulars for further details of the benefits including the annual research allowances which range between £4,058 and £5,000.

Associate professors who are awarded the title of full professor may receive from the University an additional salary payment of £2,700 p.a.
