Departmental Manager

The Departmental Manager will lead the professional services operations of the department delivering operational excellence across all administrative activities including supporting both teaching and research. The appointee will also manage and develop department-wide resources including staff, finances, health and safety, security, and estates. The role works closely with colleagues in the department, the faculty and institution. Budgeting and forecasting is a significant part of the role as well as ensuring the provision of effective undergraduate and postgraduate teaching support within the faculty.

This is a full time, open ended role.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level and have proven experience of administration and management in higher education or similar environment. Financial skills, such as budgeting, financial reporting and analysis are essential, as are strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and the flexibility to be able to respond to the changing priorities of a varied workload. It is also essential that the person appointed has proven success in business planning and a record of successful line management and development of staff with proven team leadership and motivational skills.
