Research Assistant

Based at Swansea University, you will join the reproductive biology and gynaecological oncology research team. You will be supported by experienced staff, and will benefit from substantial personal development opportunities, including project specific training as necessary. 

The role will include the development and evaluation of methods for image analysis and biophysical characterisation of exosomes and cell line populations. You will be required to conduct research, development and implementation, and to deliver technical presentations at meetings, and to demonstrate the technology at exhibitions, seminars and conferences. In addition you will assist in the day to day financial management of the project consumables budget, be responsible for preparing reports and monitoring the financial status of the project.

You will need to have a PhD with a strong background and expertise in image analysis, pattern classification and machine learning. Experience in characterization at the nanobiology level is highly desirable. You must be able to demonstrate practical experience in these areas, as well as basic analytical skills. You must be an effective communicator both orally and with written work with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.  

This is a fixed term contract funded until 31 August 2020
