The School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research (SSPSSR) at Kent is one of the leading research centres for social science in the UK and Europe. A multi-disciplinary department recognised worldwide, SSPSSR is ranked 2nd for research power, 3rd for research intensity and 5th for both research impact and research quality (GPA) by the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF).

The School is a member of the Economic and Social Research Council South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS) Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP). This consortium of universities consists of the University of Kent; City University London; University of East Anglia; Goldsmiths College; University of Reading; Roehampton University; Royal Holloway, University of London; University of Surrey; and University of Sussex. SSPSSR is offering the opportunity for a fully funded ESRC SeNSS studentship in the subject area of Sociology, Criminology or Social Work/Social Policy.

The fully-funded SeNSS Studentship includes:

  • All tuition fees (UK/EU rates)
  • Maintenance stipend (in 2017-18 this represented £14,553 p.a.)
  • Research training support grant
  • Access to further research funding
