Research Associate (Fixed Term) - Computational Materials Chemistry

University of Bath - Chemistry

Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Studies of New Materials for Lithium Batteries

An EPSRC-funded postdoctoral research position is available to carry out computational studies of new materials for lithium batteries within the materials chemistry group of Professor Saiful Islam at the University of Bath.

The research project will apply advanced computational techniques (both DFT and potentials-based methods) in the study of defect, electronic, ion diffusion and surface properties of oxide and sulphide materials for battery electrodes and solid electrolytes. This work forms part of an EPSRC Programme Grant on Next-Generation Batteries with strong links with collaborative experimental studies of Prof Peter Bruce (Oxford) and Prof Clare Grey (Cambridge).

Previous experience in computational materials science and a track record of peer-reviewed publications are essential.

This post is available from 8th January 2018 or shortly thereafter for up to 34 months.
