Postdoctoral Research Associate in Economics / Governance of Economic Transactions

Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance (Bodensee) is a privately-funded university, accredited by the German Council of Science and Humanities, offering degrees and conducting research in economics, culture and political sciences. Our mission includes interdisciplinary studies, internationality and individuality in our research as well as in our 15 undergraduate and post-graduate programmes.

The Leadership Excellence Institute Zeppelin (LEIZ) is seeking to appoint, initially for a three-year fixed-term contract on a full-time basis from 1 January 2018 (or a later date to be agreed) a Research Associate (post-doctoral) attached to the Chair of Institutional Economics – Organizational Governance, Integrity Management & Transcultural Leadership (chair holder: Prof. Dr. habil. Josef Wieland).

As part of the LEIZ, the Chair conducts application-oriented research into the governance of economic transactions. We work at the interface between economy and philosophy in terms of the organisational operationalisation of the societal functions of industry and business. Current research focuses on corporate governance (incl. CSR, compliance & integrity management, values management, Sustainable Development Goals), shared value creation, transcultural leadership and relational leadership.

You will:

  • become involved in research projects initiated by the Chair and realise your own research projects on the governance of economic transactions in line with the Chair’s research focus
  • play an active part in the activities of the Chair and the Institute
  • teach undergraduate and post-graduate courses and support and supervise students
  • extend your own and the Chair’s publishing activities

The successful candidate will be expected to work towards further academic qualification (“Habilitation”).

You should:

  • hold a doctorate in an economic discipline
  • have a demonstrable interest in the research focus of the Chair as well as in cross-departmental issues combining economics and philosophy, as well as up-to-date knowledge of the relevant body of theory
  • have published work in international specialist journals
  • have very good methodological skills and an excellent command of English as well as an ability to read and understand German
  • be open to an interdisciplinary way of working, to innovation and to application-oriented research
  • have a high degree of dedication and commitment, demonstrate flexibility and be a self-motivated individual and strong team-player
