AHRC PhD Studentships in the Arts and Humanities

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) is pleased to invite applications to its PhD programmes in the arts and humanities. The Faculty offers AHRC studentships in the cross-university training centre TECHNE. This centre offers the highest quality research expertise and aims to develop the next generation of arts and humanities researchers. TECHNE has approximately 50 scholarships to award each year across a range of disciplines. Five TECHNE studentships were awarded to FASS applicants for October 2017 entry. The maintenance rates for 2017-18 are yet to be announced by the AHRC, but for a guide you can find current maintenance and fee rates on the AHRC's page for Current award holders

TECHNE provides an outstanding research training experience, drawing together the best of traditional scholarship, history, theory and practice across seven higher education institutions in London and the South East with extensive collaboration from 13 world-leading partners including the Natural History Museum, the V&A, the Science Museum, the BFI and the Barbican.

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) is a vibrant interdisciplinary environment which produces world-leading scholarship by colleagues committed to excellence in research; it comprises a number of research groups in the humanities and performing arts. It is also the home of the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy (CRMEP), the leading centre for postgraduate-level study and doctoral/staff research in Continental Philosophy in the UK.

Applications are welcome in the Humanities (post-Kantian European Philosophy; English Language and Literature; Creative Writing; and History), Performing Arts (Drama; Dance; Music and Sound) and Media, Culture and Television.   • Deadline for expressions of interest/draft TECHNE applications for subject areas in FASS: 5.00pm (GMT) on Monday 8 January 2018. (After this date only full proposals will be considered).
  • Interviews will be held in the week commencing 15 January 2018.
