Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Full Professor in Creative Art

Contract Type: Tenure track, Teaching and Researching

The hiring entity is Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Selected scholars will be governed by SJTU rules and norms and they will be based in Shanghai.

The selected scholars will be working with the Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry (ICCI) that is established by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in partnership with the University of Southern California and administered by the Marshall School of Business at University of Southern California. ICCI is an interdisciplinary institute that focuses on developing cutting edge programs and research in the fields of culture and creative industry.

Qualifications

  • A PhD is required for the post. Candidates who have not completed a PhD but are at a very advanced stage can be short-listed and interviewed for the post. 
  • The successful candidate should be excellent in both teaching and researching. You should have achieved a high level of professional experience and standing as a leading practitioner, nationally and internationally, and demonstrate an enthusiasm for and record of research-led teaching. In addition, you will have a proven record of research (commensurate with the level of the post) activities such as high quality exhibitions, performances and/or published work, along with experience of and commitment to postgraduate teaching, with a depth of knowledge and understanding of current and historic trends in Creative Arts.
  • Applicants should be able to instruct postgraduate courses for MFA.
  • Applicants should be practicing artists with a national (international) profile in relation to Creative Arts, directions include but not limited to Fine Art, Design (Theatre Design, Creative Design, Product Design, Universal Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design etc.), Performing Arts, Writing & Literature, Music and/or Other Creative Arts.
  • The candidate should have global perspective and industry outreach, close to native English speaker language proficiency and ability to conduct interdisciplinary research, especially in collaboration with industry.

Responsibility:

  1. Teach graduate and PHD courses.
  2. Mentor PHD students, supervise graduate student research.
  3. Establish vigorous research interdisciplinary programs, preferably in Fine Art, Design, Performing Arts, Writing & Literature, Music and/or Other Creative Arts.
  4. Participate in the international research community.

Salary Package:
Basic Salary + Initial Research Fund+ Housing Allowance + Health Insurance + Home Visiting Return Ticket (once a year)
