Research Associate / Research Fellow

The salary will be paid at Grade 6 (Research Associate): £33,518 - £39,992 per annum; or Grade 7 (Research Fellow): £41,212 per annum, plus £2923 per annum London Allowance.

This post will be Fixed Term Contract for 4 years

This is a Full-time, 35 hours per week, 100% full time equivalent

This is a post-doctoral position in the School of Cardiovascular Medicine & Science based in the Rayne Institute on the St Thomas’ Hospital Campus. The post will suit someone with a PhD in cardiac biochemistry/metabolism/metabolomics and an interest in heart failure. In particular, this post aims to investigate myocardial metabolism in a variety of heart failure models using isolated hearts, NMR spectroscopy and metabolomics.  So, a background in NMR spectroscopy or metabolism in isolated preparations would be useful - although both can be taught.  Appointment will be made to either the Research Associate scale or Research Fellow– depending on age and experience.    

Candidate for this post must have a PhD in a relevant biological subject and interest as well as track record in in vitro or in vivo metabolic biochemistry/physiology. Appointment will be made to either the Research Associate scale or Research Fellow – depending on age and experience. A willingness to work with animals is essential for this role. An ideal candidate should also have experience and knowledge in other cell biology techniques and/or protein biochemistry.
