Grade 8 - Full time starting salary is normally in the range £49,148 to £56,950. With potential progression once in post to £74,259 a year.

A Project Manager  is sought to support the Robotics Research Group led by Professor Rustam Stolkin and based in the School of Metallurgy and Materials. We are looking for a highly motivated  and talented project manager with proven experience in successfully managing large and complex projects. We are looking for candidates with excellent organizational, research and project management skills; experience of working in the higher education sector is not necessary but would be advantageous.

The postholder will apply her/his skills, knowledge and experience to ensure the projects are successful by delivering all planned outputs on time and to budget in compliance with a diverse set of internal, consortium and funder requirements. She/he will build significant links to the beneficiaries, partners, finance team, College Research and Knowledge Transfer team and provide an efficient and effective operational base for the projects. The Project Manager will be responsible for identifying appropriate opportunities for new business that emerge during the delivery of the project. Such opportunities will need to be reported to the relevant College Research and Knowledge Transfer team or to Research and Innovation Services.

Candidates for the post should have a degree in a subject related to the engineering or a physical science, preferably they will have a further degree.

  • Considerable project management experience in high technology or research oriented environment, including evidence of a successful track record of successful delivery of similar projects within timescale and budget
  • Formal Project Management qualifications such as APMP, Prince 2 or MSP
  • Experience of managing large financial budgets along with experience of budget planning and forecasting
