The School of Health Sciences is a world-leading centre for healthcare education and applied healthcare research. With state-of-the-art clinical skills facilities, the School is a place where students, academics, practitioners and policy makers come to learn, share and innovate.

This role sits within the Department of Student and Academic Administration's undergraduate and pre-registration team, providing student and programme support across pre-registration nursing programmes leading to eligibility to register with the NMC.

Responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for the academic administration for the designated programmes. The role will involve providing daily support to students and academic staff in a timely and efficient manner, advising on process and procedure and referring or investigating matters as required.

The role includes maintenance of the student records system (SITS), ensuring student records are up to date and accurate at all times, including processing student withdrawals, transfers and suspensions. The post holder will act as Committee Secretary to the Programme Management Committee and Student-Staff Liaison Committee and support the administration of the arrangement and preparation for all relevant Assessment Boards.

This will involve the administration of the marking process, monitoring feedback turnaround times and entering marks onto SITS. It will also require the administration of the assessment process to include liaising with External Examiners.

Person Specification
The successful candidate will have experience of working in a busy customer focussed office environment, preferably in a Higher Education institution with proven experience of multi-tasking and dealing with people from a wide range of backgrounds.

Required experience:

  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent numeracy skills.
  • The ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Confident in the use of IT systems, particularly the use of MS office packages, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ability to analyse problems and identify potential solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to deal with enquiries effectively and efficiently and with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to take a flexible and proactive approach to work.
  • A flexible approach to change.
