Student and Academic Services (SAS) provides a wide-range of services and support to students and academic staff. Our student services span the complete student lifecycle from enquiry, through enrolment and on-course support, to graduation and beyond. Our academic services include direct support for academic staff in many aspects of their work, and portfolio support spanning the course lifecycle, from planning and approval, through to curriculum management and programme review. Our ambition is that the services we provide should be sector-leading, adapted to meet the needs of our University, and sufficiently flexible to respond rapidly to changing requirements.

Marketing, Communications and Development is an award-winning team, providing expertise in marketing and communications across Manchester Metropolitan University, as well as managing the University’s profile and presence externally. Our remit encompasses Press and Public Relations, Web and New Media, Corporate and Faculty Marketing, Events, Public Engagement, Alumni and Development, and Design and Photography. We play a crucial role in ensuring communication materials and activities are fully integrated to maximum effect, reinforcing internally and externally the University’s brand, reputation and strengths.

Our remit encompasses brand and proposition development, press and public relations, corporate communications, digital media, corporate marketing, alumni and development, and design and photography.

Role

The Intranet Content Manager will play a key role in delivering and developing the content workstream for the University’s new intranet system, including undertaking regular comprehensive content audits, engaging with key stakeholders and content contributors, ensuring a user-focused approach to define and develop the site’s information architecture and developing and refining effective governance and workflows. This role will work closely with external suppliers appointed to deliver the chosen intranet content management system (CMS) during the initial delivery and ongoing development phases.

The successful candidate will ultimately be responsible for developing a best-practice approach to sourcing and managing high-quality content and managing stakeholder communications around the intranet platform as well as having responsibility for developing plans for the day-to-day editorial management of the intranet.

Ideal Candidate

The post holder will need:

  • Excellent project planning and management skills with experience of leading large and complex cross-organisation projects.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills with experience of managing at a senior, strategic level.
  • Excellent knowledge of internal communications and staff engagement opportunities and techniques, with a particular focus on intranets, and a proven track record in delivering in this area.
