The Royal Marsden Hospital together with its academic partner The Institute of Cancer Research form the only specialist cancer NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), receiving £43m over five years to support translational clinical research into cancer diagnosis and treatment. The joint institution demonstrates breadth and depth in experimental cancer research, and provides a highly active and effective clinical research environment, with a critical mass of experienced internationally renowned clinicians and biomedical scientists engaged in leading-edge translational research.

The BRC is seeking two experienced Clinical Research Operations Managers to provide dedicated support for the BRC Theme Leads in delivering the aims and objectives of the BRC Research Themes through the RM Clinical Units and capturing/disseminating evidence of the success, delivery, and impact of the BRC Themes.

The post holder will work with the Theme Leads, the Clinical Units Research Leads and ICR key researchers to implement the BRC Themes’ strategies managing Themes’ portfolios and budgets, running the Theme Working Groups, and enabling efficient and cost effective delivery of trials within the Clinical Units. He/she will help formulate narratives for annual reports and promotional material, and play a key role in coordinating submission of external reports and regular internal reviews of progress. The post holder will have line management responsibility for the senior clinical trial managers within the allocated Research Themes.

Candidates should have extensive experience of working in a clinical research setting with good management skills and expertise in running experimental medicine studies and clinical trials.

The successful applicant should be educated to post graduate degree level in a relevant discipline or have equivalent knowledge and experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to research, draft, critique and present scientific reports to a broad range of audiences are essential to this post.

This position is full-time, primarily based in the BRC office in Sutton with regular travel to the Chelsea site.
