Plant Molecular Biologist


7 month fixed term contract

NIAB is a leading independent research institute based in Cambridge at the heart of UK plant breeding and agriculture with excellent lab, field and glasshouse facilities. We require an enthusiastic molecular biologist/geneticist with experience of plant-science research to join an established team working on genetic diversity and crop improvement. You should have a PhD in plant sciences and relevant post-doctoral research experience. Funded by the BBSRC, the work is in collaboration with the John Innes Centre, Norwich on a mutant of barley with larger-than-normal embryos and altered grain composition. This short-duration Post-doctoral position has become available due to the early departure of the previous post holder. The project has been very successful thus far and the final few months of work, ideally starting no later than 1st January 2018, will secure high-quality publications.
