You will join the group of Professor Alessandro Troisi, recently relocated to the Department of Chemistry to work on the theory of excited state dynamics in materials or biological systems. The project is part of a large ERC grant aiming at the study of excited state dynamics in materials and biological systems containing aggregates of chromophores (e.g. light harvesting complexes). You will be expert in at least one of the following two areas: (i) electronic structure calculations of excited states and/or (ii) quantum dynamics of molecules or molecular aggregates. We are looking for efficient ways for combining computational chemistry methods with quantum dynamics method in ways that would benefit both the computational and the experimental communities. In particular, you will contribute to the development of a simulation tool for time dependent pump-probe spectroscopy including two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy. Experience with computer programming would be highly beneficial. You should have a PhD in Chemistry or Physics with excellent research skills. You will work closely with a number of other Postdoctoral Research Associates and a number of PhD students within the group, as well as collaborating with in-house and external experimentalists. The post is available until 31 March 2019.
