Hours: This post attracts a ratio of 0.2 (one day per week) over 52 weeks of the year.

Duration: 1 year fixed term initially.

Responsible to: The Principal.

Start date: 01.03.18

End date: 28.02.19. This role may be reviewed and/or extended subject to the requirements of the business.

Selection method: A 20-minute presentation followed by a 40 minute interview.

Presentation Topic: “A Vision and Strategy for initiating a Department of Coaching, Leadership and Supervision.”

Overview of the role:

With over 35 years of experience and success in offering professional programmes in counselling, psychotherapy, mental health and wellbeing, the Iron Mill College now plans to develop a Department of Coaching offering programmes at all levels from entry to postgraduate. The College currently offers a new Postgraduate Certificate in Positive Psychology Coaching that has been validated by the University of Worcester and is now recruiting its first cohort for September 2018. We have an established PG Certificate in Supervision at Level 7, next running in September 2018. A shorter entry-level coaching programme has also recently been developed. In terms of future plans, the role will include the immediate development of qualifying courses in coaching to meet EMCC criteria, a range of CPD workshops, and a series of public lectures. We envisage that the department will move forward to develop programmes related to management and leadership within the helping professions.

The role holder will take the initiative in the establishment and development of this department, and leadership of courses and initiatives within it. The role will suit an enthusiastic, energetic and motivated individual with substantial coaching experience, well-established business and coaching connections within the Southwest, along with appropriate experience in higher education teaching learning and assessment for mature students.

Background:

Iron Mill College has been established for over 35 years as a leading provider of training related to mental health and wellbeing, the majority of which is professionally accredited and/or Higher Education validated. The college is based in Exeter, with a growing centre in Poole and a further centre in the early stages of development. Over the past 6-8 years the college has been increasing its provision of Higher Education validated training at levels 4-7 in partnership with the University of Worcester, and is equally focused on further developing a range of professionally accredited programmes.  The Iron Mill College is a small and friendly specialist college in an exciting period of growth and development, with a supportive and highly experienced staff team. This role is based in Exeter, with the possibility of responsibilities expanding into other IMC centres.
