Anatomy Teaching Prosector

Salary: £29,301 to £38,183 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

Applications are invited for the above role to be responsible for managing and maintaining the Dissecting Room (DR) and all associated facilities. The role holder will ensure compliance with the requirements of the Human Tissue Act 2004 (replacing Anatomy Act 1984), preparing all forms of materials (including prosected parts) for the teaching of Anatomy, and participating in teaching activities and External courses (booking, approval and costing).

The role holder will be responsible for adequate embalming and storage of cadavers until they are required within the DR, to prepare the DR for timetabled classes and be available throughout the duration of the classes. To organise the reception of bequests and supervise appropriate liaison with relatives, medical staff, undertakers and others in conjunction with the administrative staff, provide a telephone number and be “on call” when decisions regarding bequests fall out of normal working hours and any out of hours issues arising with the DR suite.

Candidates must be a graduate or equivalent in Biological Sciences or relevant subject with knowledge of embalming and requirements of Human Tissue Act 2004 and Anatomy Act 1984. They should also have the ability to communicate effectively with academic staff, students, clinical colleagues, support staff and relatives as well as accurate maintenance of records and catalogues of teaching materials, good time management, be well organised and self motivated.

This is a full-time permanent role. Job share arrangements may be considered for this post.
